I KNOW MANY OF YOU ARE SADDENED BY THE FOLIES CLOSING BUT LOOKING ON THE BRIGHT SIDE, YOU SHOULD FEEL VERY PROUD TO HAVE BEEN PART OF A StfOW^tZ PHENOMENON THAT HAS BEEN ENTERTAINING AUDIENCES CONTINUALLY FOR 140 YEARS. THE FOLIES OPENED HER DOORS IN 1869. SHE WAS THE FIRST MAJOR BBH FRENCtySWra^DlNTMIE BECAME WORLD FAMOUS. FOR YEARS SHE WAS THE SECOND BIGGEST ATTRACTION IN PARIS--THE FIRST BEING THE EIFFEL TOWER. IN 1882 MANET, THE GREAT FRENCH IMPRESSIONIST PAINTED A MASTERPIECE ENTITLED THE GIRL AT THE BAR OF THE FOLIES BERGERE. ^ FLORENCE ZIEGFIELD WAS SO INSPIRED BY THE FOLIES HE CREATED THE ZIEGFIELD FOLLIES WHICH RAN ON BROADWAY FOR OVER 20 YEARS. <?·7'r>wr> AL IN 1989 WE WERE ASKED TO BE PART OF
