Schtirr Coordinator, 1960 Annual 933 Sherman Street Denver 3, Colorado April 19, 1960 Mr. A1 Freeman THE SANDS Hiway 91 Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Mr. Freeman: I am in receipt of your letter dated 2/29/60 and have been trying to reach you for the past few weeks, regarding the material you wish included in the program for the 60th National Open Golf Tournament. I believe there has been a misunderstanding and I hope to be able to straighten it out through this letter, as we are about to go to press. The Executive Committee decided that rather than having the standard "display" form of advertising in the program - it would be a far greater contribution to golf if we were to maintain a "sponsored" type of page with the sponsors name, location (city and state) and a slogan at the bottom of each page. To this end, please find enclosed a fact sheet in which specimen pages are shown and a rough tissue indicating how we like to illustrate the name of the Sands with the slogan "FORE most in America- The "EXCITING" Hotel in Las Vegas". As I pointed out earlier in this letter, we are about to go to press and therefore it would be greatly appreciated if you would telephone me collect at KEystone 4-8208 so that your page can be expedited as rapidly as possible. Cordially, ~ William C. Schurr Coordinator, *60 Annual c.c. H. R. Berglund WCS:jw Enc. - 2
