JACK ENTRATTER Date 7/19/63_----- From: AL FREEMAN Subject: 1964 NATIONAL PRESS PHOTOGRAPHERS CONVENTION AT SAHAM JjOTEL - 2 - each year since 1960 and I believe this is one of the reasons why they got the big one. The Sahara has given the Californian Press Photographers free rooms and free transportation for six officers each year. Now I understand that the Sahara has offered $6,000 for expenses of the officers of the National Association plus 30 free rooms and suites, and the balance of the rooms needed at a $5.00 rate. My point to Costa was that I felt the Sands should have been advised that their 1964 Convention was up for discussion in case we wanted to bid on it ~ but as you will note from Costa?╟╓s letters, he felt that the N.P.P.A. Convention would not mean that much in the way of gambling business to be as important as something to be bid on. In order to make up for the slight, we can become the headquarters for the Beauty Queen Pageant which is the highlight of the whole Convention. This would mean providing rooms for about 20 Beauty Queens from all over the country, as well as cocktail parties etc. Would you please read over the attached information and letters, and let me know if we can discuss this for a few minutes.
