This Clipping From NEW YORK, N. Y. JOURNAL AMERICAN HE KNIGHT WATCH 'Four Lads' Add Up to Four Hits By GiNE KNIGHT rHIS IS ALL ABOUT THE BOYS who shine in the latest edition of "All About Dames," Donn Arden's plendorous revue at the Latin Quarter. The Four Lads, recording singers from St. Michael's 'athedral Choir School in Toronto, are four hits. They re Frank Busseri, Bernard Toorisch, James Arnold and iorrado Codarini. And they sing harmoniously. While the boys score with Istanbul," "Getting to Know Ton," "No, Not Much" and ther comparatively recent Dngs, it is when they go back ito the barbershop quartet fa that they get the customers inging with them. Frank, Barney, Jim and iorrie do wonderfully well with itch wonderful oldies as Shine On Harvest Moon;" And the Band Played On;" If You Were the Only Girl in le World" and "For Me and Iy Gal." They don't write songs like lat any more. Vocal arrangements for the our Lads are good. While I lissed their "Standing on the orner," the boys came irough strongly with "Down f the River Side." Listen to that rhythm! It's a beat that can't be beat. I rate the Four Lads the best of these singing foursomes.. The male sex registered again when the Romano Brothers from Italy, via France, bounded on. These three do everything. They're singing, dancing acrobats. Comedians, too. , Advertised star of the show is Jean Carroll, billed as "The First Lady of Laughs." Off to a slow start, she picked up when she began her series of "Did you hear that . . . ?" Most of her lines were clever, but Miss Carroll's act is like, what the bride wore: Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. Her few blue jokes were, I felt, in poor taste. Bouncing Act The Four Kilroys (not on the program) earned their applause on the bounce. This is a family trampoline act from Australia comprised of husband and wife, the wife's younger sister and her husband. They reached the heights in swings and catches. The Kilroys were there. Rest of the stars of "All About Dames" were held over: Pony Sherrell, Dick Curry, Boubouka, Mitsouko Morigai and Joyce Roberts. Also, of course, the dancing girls and boys of the large chorus. And the great big show girls who staged a parade of beauty unadorned. As usual, Jo Lombardi's band played for the dancing customers. More cha-cha-cha. "All About Dames" is a fast- moving production. Which is not surprising. There's always a good show at the Latin Quarter. This Clipping From BROOKLYN, N. Y. LONG ISLAND ADVOCATE JAN 15 1959 J| roadway after hours .By BAY WILSON JAYE P. MORGAN and the Morgan Brothers opened at .the Latin Quarter last night ?╟÷headlining a new edition of Donn Acdwfr's spectacular revue, "All About Dames," and certainly Jaye P. is a very .talented, .versatile and beautiful 'one' ... The pretty thrush once toiled as a short-order cook and a cookie packer while preparing for her career, although she stems from a long line odf vaudervillians. Harry Mlmmo, one of the all- time great pantominists - comedians, is on th eMorgan bill, and with Jaye P.'s four musical brothers ?╟÷ form a real clirk headline team. In addition to the Morgans and Mimmo, the big Latin Quarter production features dozens "of other top drawer acts and the big stage is loaded with beautiful showgirls ?╟÷ everyone a real live doll ?╟÷ and the only complaint is that you just don have eyes to go all the way 'round. It's the .only place I know where an eye-full doesn't hurt at all. HARRY BELAFQNTE who has turned down just about every top TV show ni America because they would not allow him enough time for his singing to portray the complete story, has signed a 5- year contract with the British Broadcasting Corp. for 3 shows in '59 ... Dizzy Gillespie is in a huddle with friends who can refresh his mind on material for his autobiography which he will j call "Dizzy Like a Fox" which is slated for a Spring printing .... Burlesque may be banned in N.Y., but Sherry Britton has certainly returned! strippers to B'way in "Drink To Me Only." "Gypsy," forthcomnig musical slated for a Feb. 2 rehearsal Will feature 6 strippers, which just proves that regardless how you spell it you can't outlaw "sex.". ?╟≤ * * Ray Wilso is heard daily ovei WVNJ, 620 on the dial, with tips on entertainment and dining and ?╟≤on Tuesdays at 12-midnight 'til 1 A.M., its "THE RAY WILSON SHOW" with celebrity Interviews.
