The audience does not realize until this point that what they are looking at on stage is only a portino of what is available in the Ziegfeld Theatre. With the skillful use of elevators and sets, the temple is seen to fall and Fall and fall-until finally the graven head of bull topping it falls apart and crashes jewelry and finery on them, some cost more than $5,000 each. Among the other highlights of ?╟úJubilee!?╟Ñ are: ?╟úVariety Musical Show?╟Ñ ?╟÷ a tribute to the entertainment greats of the past, such as Eddie Cantor, Jimmy Durante, A1 Jol-son, Rudy Vallee, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Maurice Chevalier, to the ground. Samson, atop it, disappears in a billow of fire and smoke. By the time this one hour and forty-minute show gets to the World War I segment with biplanes having a dogfight over the heads of the audience, nothing seems to surprise anymore. Music in the show spans the gamut from Strauss to Berlin to Gershwin. But no Las Vegas show would be complete without a lot of tall and beautiful showgirls in extravagant costumes - and this show has ?╟╓em. The other two big production numbers,' featuring ?╟úthose beautiful girls,?╟Ñ are the opening ?╟úJubilee Strut?╟Ñ and the closing ?╟úBandwagon Finale.?╟Ñ There are more than 1,000 costumes in the show, many of them created by the famed designer Bob Mackie. The costumes weigh an average of 40 pounds each, and with all of the Judy Garland, and Elvis Presley; ?╟úA String of Perils?╟Ñ ?╟÷ in which the audience is taken back to the exciting days of the silent movies. A scanttily-clad damsel is in distress at the hands of a dastardly villain; ?╟úRed, Hot and Cole?╟Ñ a tribute to the music of Cole Porter; ?╟úTales of the Vienna Woods?╟Ñ , a classical ballet homage to the lilting music of Strauss; ?╟úCelestial Nights ft More Stars Than There Are in Heaven?╟Ñ ?╟÷ ^a tribute to the magic of Hollywood. Director and the on-going force behind ?╟úJubilee!?╟Ñ on a daily basis is Bally?╟╓s Vice President of Entertainment, Bill DeAngelis. ?╟úJubilee!?╟Ñ is presented twice a night, at 7:30 and 11 p.m. every night but Wednesday, when the showroom is dark, and the production is Adults Over 18 Only. Admission to the show includes two cocktails. Donn Arden?╟╓s $10 million superspectacular?╟úJUBILEE!?╟Ñin the Ziegfeld Theatre of Bally?╟╓s-Las Vegas hotel/casino, is the most expensively-produced show ever to be presented in Las Vegas. In addition to its cast of more than 100 talented dancers and singers and its 60 musical numbers, it also includes such spectacles as: The Destruction of the Temple by Samson - and even The Sinking of the Titanic! Part of the show is what visitors to Las Vegas have come to expect of the ?╟úEntertainment Capital of the World?╟Ñ - beautiful girls, lavish sets, beautiful girls, expensive costumes - and of 8/WHATS ON/Nov. 4-1 course, beautiful girls. Scores of them. But another part of the show displays an aspect of theatrical entertainment that can be duplicated by no other hotel in Las Vegas. The stage of the 1100-seat Ziegfeld Theatre was specially built for this show and is one of the most elaborate and versatile stages in the world. The Sinking of the Titanic is just one demonstration of the unique character of this ?╟úOne in a Million?╟Ñ show. The entire story is recreated, from the departure of the gigantic liner at the pier on Southampton, England, through the lavish parties, to the dramatic scene in the boiler room when the ship strikes the huge iceberg. The final tableau is of lifeboats floating on the cold North Atlantic as the giant ship goes down. At one point; tons of water are pouring through the split seams of the ship into the boiler room -but the audience has yet to get hit with a drop. While ?╟úTitanic?╟Ñ is the diamond in this tiara of wonders that is ?╟úJubilee!?╟Ñ, some visitors find the Destruction of the Temple by Samson to be even MORE impressive. Again, the whole scenario is created, from Samson?╟╓s initial displays of his prowess, through his meeting with the delectible but dangerous Deliliah, through the shearing of his locks and the subsequent loss of his power. Finally, he is tied between the two massive stone pillars of the temple. And then it begins. He pushes at the pillars. He pushes again -slowly they begin to move outward. The pillars give way! A terrible thundering, and the temple begins to topple.
