General: Jim Kennedy, Public Relations Director for United Air Lines and, incidentally, a son-in-law of Mr. Patterson, President of UAL, was here at the Sands this past weekend to discuss promotional tieups with UAL and the Sands, Following is a rundown on several conversations we had on some ideas we would like to present to you for approval * Denver is a booming metropolis of 750*000 people, full of people who are wealthy and leisure-starved and who could constitute a fine lush market for the Sands, if properly exploited. According to Kennedy, no hotel monopolizes this market yet, although a partner in the Flamingo setup hails from Denver and does quite a bit of promoting the Flamingo in that area. ?╟≤There are 12 radio stations, 5 TV stations and 2 newspapers in Denver, with the focal point of interest centered around the Brown Palace Hotel. Ideas for promotion: 1, We can tie in with UAL on their program of having 2^0 of their pilots selling Las Vegas, naturally with, the idea of having them recommend the Sands, We could award a three-week-day vacation to the pilot who does the best job of selling the Sands, and could do this on a regular basis of one vacation every six months for continuing impact* 2.
