SHOWBIZ FANTASY { ?╟úHitz?╟Ñ brings sorcery, eroticism, rapture and sorrow to Vegas stage Hot new trip at the Hacienda takes audience on a journey to the center of time escribing his ?╟╓80s musical fantasy as surrealistic, dreamlike and even comparing it to a ?╟ live?╟╓ MTV, producer/director Jerry Jackson says the time for ?╟úHitz?╟Ñ has come. ?╟ ?╟ It?╟╓s been in my mind for so long,?╟Ñ he says of the song and dance production which themes itself around Top 40 hits of this decade. ?╟úI would have liked to have done this earlier in the decade, then I wouldn?╟╓t have so many songs to choose from,?╟Ñ Jackson said. The show opens Tuesday at the Hacienda Hotel & Casino. Previous committments, however, and lack of an Ideal stage on which to bring his concept to life, had forced Jackson to retain his brainchild within the theatres of his mind. As his work in the Bahamas drew to a close on the French review productions ?╟ ?╟ Confetti" and ?╟úSoiree,?╟Ñ the writer-producer-director was approached by Hacienda executives to produce a show for their Fiesta Theatre. ?╟úI had done ?╟ Fire and Ice?╟╓ a few years ago,?╟Ñ explained Jackson of the ice skating spectacular. ?╟úThis is not an ice show, but when I told Paul Lowden, the Hacienda?╟╓s president and chairman of the board, about what I had been visualizing, he liked the concept very much." Jackson turned down offers to choreograph dance numbers in the newly released film ?╟úElvira, Mistress of the Dark?╟Ñ in order to begin work on his own own creation. Though he would have enjoyed doing the choreography for the movie, not only because he loves dancing, but also because he is a very good friend of Elvira's alter ego Cassandra Peterson, he was eager to put movement, color and real personalities to his own imaginative scenarios. He captures the fear which lurks deep from the darkness of ever- DAN6IR ?╟÷ Jerry Jackson, the show's produoer, has been dancing; for several years. ?╟úI don?╟╓t even warm ap,?╟Ñ he said. ?╟úI just go out on stage and start to dance,?╟Ñ He is also a composer. & OCTOBER 30-NOVEMBER 5,1988/SHOWBIZ
