I agree.BE W S R 1UASE from: MONTY LEVINE & ASSOCIATES for: HOUSTON JUNIOR CHAMBER OP COMMERCE 1951 Richmond Avenue j Houston 6, Texas JA 6-2953 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The word is out around the Lone Star State that "if Texas does things big, then Houston does ?╟╓em bigger"; and the members of the Houston Junior Chamber of Commerce will look you square in the eye and answer, "Why shoreI" There?╟╓s a feeling in the air because it's time for the annual Miss Houston Pageant, As a result, every attractive young filly in town is getting the eye. But this will be no ordinary pageant. As one of the most impulsive Jaycees was heard to say: "Why be Miss America when you can be Miss Houston?" He wasn't far from wrong, because when Miss Houston of 1957 is crowned July 14 in the air-conditioned Sam Houston Coliseum before an expected 12,000 persons, she will win one of the most fabulous assortments of prizes that the Junior Chamber of .Commerce has ever conjured up. That's not all. The civic organization has contracted with top comedian Jerry Lewis to come here and emcee the show. "This is a skyrocket," commented Wesley Hooper, Jaycee president. "It's the most ambitious Miss Houston Pageant we've ever undertaken, and the Jaycees have sponsored it for the past 23 years. The minute we lined up Jerry Lewis and those terrific prizes, our pageant zoomed immediately into the big time. It's the biggest ever held in Texas," The young executive added that the famed comic has invited Jaycee representatives to come to Hollywood for a pre-show conference and that he, Lewis, will have a special gift for Miss Houston when she is crowned. --more?╟÷
