WISCONSIN November 2, 1962 Mr* Eugene Murphy The Desert Inn Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Genes Following is a rundown of our idea for a Las Vegas promotion program at the 23rd annual Milwaukee Sentinel Sports and Vacation Show next March. The enclosed material pretty well covers our show plans for next spring. Since 1940 the Milwaukee Sentinel Show has been the most important single factor in influencing vacation planning in Wisconsin. Since that time, 2,729,392 persons have attended the show. Annual attendance has averaged over 150,000. In other words, we know of no more effective way of reaching the statefs largest captive audience of vacation-minded families. The enclosed floor plan shows the physical setup of the Sentinel Show in both the Milwaukee Arena and Auditorium. A contract for booths #32-33 (colored in red) has been sent to Jack Lehman as a suggested location for the Nevada Department of Economic Development exhibit ... and following through on our talks in Las Vegas, we're holding the three adjacent booths (colored in blue) for a special Las Vegas exhibit. The combination of the two displays would provide a fifty foot exhibit featuring Nevada vacations. This is the most heavily traveled part of the show. The display would be the largest single state exhibit in the show. To make this doubly effective, we*re planning a "Fabulous Las Vegas Vacation" contest which would be tied in with Trout fishing competition at the show. Our present plans follow these lines, although we* re wj*de open for suggestions. Each person catching a fish of any size at 'the Trout Stream would be given an entry blank so they can complete a sentence in 25 words covering vacation attractions in and around Las Vegas* Information providing this material will be included in a news story published in the Sentinel Sports and Vacation Show (con??t) 23rd Annual Milwaukee Sentinel Sports-Boat-Vacation Show Milwaukee Arena and Auditorium ?╟÷ MARCH 16-24. 1963 I l Y A N SUNDAY EST I S H I 8
