In early January of this year Mr. Jilly Rizzo informed me that the information regarding this pledge would be forwarded to you, and that the disbursement and conditions would be handled through your office. The Congregation and I are eager to hear from you regarding this matter. Your earliest response is deeply appreciated. We are, ind , Ciruly pleased at your recognition of and participation in the effort to construct a temple for Reform in Las Vegas. Mr. Golden, in his transmittal letter of the pledge and the accompanying ten thousand dollar ($10,000) check toward the pledge, indicated that he believed the pledge would include the naming of the lobby of the temple in your honor. I would appreciate confirmation of your wishes, so that there will be no question as to the mutual intent of the Congregation and yourself. I am looking forward to the construction of the facility and certainly hope that you will be able to participate with us in the dedication of the new edifice upon completion. Obviously your philanthropic concern has helped, in a substantial manner, to make this a reality. But perhaps that's the ultimate purpose of our respective backgrounds and traditions: to enable each of us to open our hearts to others out of concern and respect for all G-d's children. Both you and Mr. Sinatra exemplify the highest ideals embodied in our shared Judeo-Christian heritage. On behalf of not only myself and Gary, but our entire congregation, I want to extend our thanks and best wishes for life, health, and happiness. God bless you. Sincerely, Rabbi Mel Hecht Gary Sternberg Trustee The Reform Synagogue of Las Vegas 4412 South Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, Nevada 89109 Telephone: (702) 733-6292 August 19, 1984 Mr. Jilly Rizzo 70940 Tamarisk Lane Rancho Mirage, California, 92270 Dear Mr. Rizzo: It has been brought to my attention that you have not been personally acknowledged for helping to obtain the generous donation to the building fund of Congregation Ner Tamid, from Mr. Frank Sinatra. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for this oversight. On behalf of The Board of Directors and congregants of Congregation Ner Tamid, I wish to thank you for your part in arranging for this gracious deed. We are fully aware that without your unselfish efforts this donation would not have been possible. I was very disappointed when I recently learned through your son Willy, that you were not made aware of the letters of gratitude sent by myself, our Temple's President, and our Rabbi, to Mr. Nathan Golden and to Mr. Joe Rizzo. Enclosed are 2 copies of these letters. It would give us great pleasure if you, Mr. Sinatra, and your families and friends would attend our Temple's dedication ceremonies to be held in the near future. You will be notified as to the date and time, as we look forward to your participation in the dedication of the Frank Sinatra Lobby. Needless to say, you are all welcome anytime it is convenient for you, to visit our new Temple and Moe Dalitz Religious School for a personal tour. Please contact me for such arrangements at 702-876-4848, or write Gary Sternberg 6785 Garden Grove Ave. Las Vegas, Nevada 89103. Thank you again for everything.
