/V ?╟≤& k k k k k k k k k k k kk k k k k PROMOTION COMMITTEE kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk DUTIES: 1. Supervise the promotion, of the World Congress throughout the Las Vegas area. 2. Promote public attendance at the World Congress throughout the west coast area. 3. Assist the Air Force Association news staff with the operation of the NEWS ROOM, particularly in welcoming out-of-town newsmen. 4. Assist the Las Vegas News Bureau in promoting the World Congress and assist newsmen covering the World Congress, as required. OPERATION: The Las Vegas News Bureau has offered its services and facilities in promoting the World Congress. The PROMOTION COMMITTEE should work with the News Bureau to assure maximum promotion throughout the local area and the west coast area. Every effort should be made to inform the public that the World Congress is open to the public only on April 18 and 19 and that the public should not attempt to attend any of the World Congress events, exhibits, or displays before April 18. Both counter cards and posters have been printed to promote public attendance on April 18 and 19. The PROMOTION COMMITTEE should assist in the distribution of these posters throughout the Las Vegas area, particularly in the hotels and motels. Complete news facilities will be installed in the Convention Center. ROOM 4 will be the official NEWS OFFICE for the World Congress. This office will be under the direction of a staff member from AFA Headquarters in Washington. Additional AFA staff members will be on duty in this office, as well as representatives from the Air Force and the six cooperating organizations connected with the World Congress. All newsmen are to be registered for the World Congress in ROOM 4, where they will be issued credentials and tickets to World Congress events. Newsmen must register in ROOM 4 to obtain these credentials and tickets and they must have appropriate credentials in order to be admitted to World Congress events. ROOMS 2 and 3 in the Convention Center will be the NEWS WORK ROOM and will~Ee~equipped with typewriters, copy paper, telephones, bulletin boards, and copies of all speeches and news releases available. representatives of Chance Vought will be on duty in the NEWS LOUNGE during its operation, as hosts for their company and to assist with the operation ROOM 1 in the Convention Center will be the NEWS LOUNGE.
