CCR&RB Minutes - July II, 1961 Page Three with Mr. Bob Brown of the Las Vegas Review Journal. He said he had also had occasion to speak to Tom CampbelI about thi s trip and Tom had urged that a good representation be made as he had just returned from Europe and knew the impression that could be made by a good showing. Undoubtedly there are persons who for one reason or another will not be convinced that the expenditure of public funds is necessary for such a trip, but Mr. Albright felt each board member should give it due consideration and make up their minds as to whether or not to make the trip. Since Mayor Gragson indicated he definitely would not be able to attend, Chairman Whipple will attend as Mayor-Pro-Tem representing the City of Las Vegas and his expenses will be paid by the City of Las Vegas. Mr. Albright said he thought that Vice-Chairman Ed Fountain should attend then as representing the Fair Board as well as other members that could attend. Member Fountain said that because of serious illness in the family, he and his wife would not be able to attend. He requested his reservations be cancelled or transferred to some other board member. Member Fountain and other members of the Board said they did not feel like they wanted to go either if the newspapers were going to harass them on the subject. There being no further business, upon motion being duly made and seconded, this meeting of the Clark County Fair & Recreation Board was officially adjourned at 5s40 P.M. SECRETARY Chairman -3-
