ECONOMIC COMMITTEE MEETING APRIL 25,2001 6:30 p.m.MEMBERS PRESENT: Billie Rayford Sharon Savage Carolyn Parks Diane E. Stith Amanda McWilliams Lavonne LewisThe committee focused on four areas of concern:1: Formation of an Investment club,2: Results of “Black Dollars Days”,3: June “Invest in Black “and4: December “ Economic conference.” ’’Black Dollar Day” was held during the month of March. We have received a total of $2,182.80 from 5 participating sorors. The results were very low. It was discussed and concluded we need to extend the time for returning of the receipt. Therefore, we are asking the sorors to take a sheet of paper and list the vendor(s) and the amount(s) of money they spent during the month of March BEFORE leaving today and return it to Soror Billie or Soror Sharon. Please remember to include your beautician, lawn service, golf caddy, valet service etc.Our next area of concern was the June activity. June has been set aside as,” Invest in Black” month. It was discussed and concluded that we (The Economic Committee) would assist with the Wayland Means Committee to make the celebration of Juneteenth Day on Saturday, June 16,2001 a successful fund raiser and also distribute pamphlets on wise investing, retirement planning, and household budgeting. The Economic conference is December 8,2001. The area of concern is, the place where the conference can be held. Several places were suggested and will be researched and reported on by the next meeting. Finally, a Questionnaire of 12 questions was formed, regarding the formation of an investment club. We are asking all sorors to complete the questionnaire and turn it in to Soror Billie or Soror Sharon. We need this information for our next meeting. Our meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m. The next meeting is May 30, 2001 at the home of Soror Diane E. Stith 2904 Calmada at 6:30 p.m. The phone number is 616- 2325.Soror Diane Stith
