FREEMAN COMPANY pub/ic/sts PLANNING PLAN I Use the Lounge stage area for set-up. Commentator table faces stage so pictures past him will show casino excitement. Also, area around stage clear so cameras can shoot into stage. General Theme of Program segments: This could be graphic discussion of the two music crazes of today, rock and roll-- and calypso. Thus, we combine live excitement of moving musicians and enter- tainers with calm and interesting talk. PROGRAM IDEAS: jj?║ /j 1st segment: Break suddenly into torrid music of Romaine Brown and nis rock and roll group on lounge stage. Use front shot headon ?╟÷ then roll camera up ramp, around and highlight them in foreground from the rear shooting ait into crowded casino, with commentator sitting at table in front of the stage. Then roll back down incline as number ends into commentator, discussing rock and roll as one part of a huge industry of lounge music in the Sands, typical of Vegas hotels. Commentator interviewing Entratter. For comic relief, Joey Bishop strolls past several time, dressed in different rock and roll costumes. One time, he wears side-burns down complete face, and out on sides of legs, with pants rolled up, carrying huge bass fiddle?╟÷ as an example of the "serious" rock and roller. Another time strolls past carrying large rock and small roll ------ other ideas to come. <<!oS p* 2nd segment: Break into Calypso group on Sands lounge stage, using Lady T and her Cali-Calypsonians from the ^ El Rancho. _9 Discourse with Harry Bellafonte, with comic coS 1 * relief by Joey Bishop running thru entire conversation. 3rd segment: Comic sketch with Bishop and huge, 6 foot playing cards in world* s biggest gin rummy game, to publicize the National Gin Rummy Tournament.
