I agree.yV . i ' I C O P Y Las Vegas, October 5, Nevada 1938 ? 7 I Mr. Chas. Adams: Replying to yours of October 3, relative to emergency ordinance covering on licenses adopted by the City of Las Vegas, will state that in my opinion the ordinance is valid. The ordinance as drafted is somewhat confusing, and water companies havihg a monthly income of less than $3,000 per month pay a license tax of $.006 on each dollar of average monthly sales, and water companies having a gross income of more than $3,000 a month are required to pay the sum of $800.00 per annum. For hotels, lodging houses and rooming houses, the quarterly license fee is: From 4 to n 8 jguest rooms $5.00 n 8 to 18 n n 10.00 it 18 to 30 y t! 30.00 n 30 to 50 N n 30.00 50 to 80 n n 40.00 Over 80 guest rooms 50.00 A mass meeting was held last night at the Court Room^ at which the city administration was condemned, recall threatened and even disincorpora- tion of the City advocated. The city's finances are in bad shape, some of its bonds are in default, as the commissioners spent the bond fund for other things. Very truly yours, /sgd/ Leo A. McNamee cc -Mr. E. E. Bennett Mr. Walter R. Bracken.
