I agree.MISS HOUSTON X - add Scope of the pageant, Mr. Hooper declared, as well as the number and value of prizes have already turned the eyes of Miss America officials in Atlantic City, N. J., toward Houston. A $1000 scholarship and a $500 wardrobe top the fabulous prize list already arranged by the Jaycees, Also included are a $300 diamond wrist watch, $250 portable sewing machine, $150 portable television set, $150 portable typewriter, a glamorous white fox fur stole, $100 worth of blue chip insurance stock and a large studio portrait* Not to be outdone, all the Jaycee bachelors liave put their heads together and will present Miss Houston with her own personal color telephone, plus a year's free service. Runners-up in the Miss Houston Pageant won't miss out, however. The top three finalists will each receive a trophy and the top 10 finalists will each get a gold charm bracelet, pen and pencil set, a studio portrait, and the latest Jerry Lewis long-play album. The entire pageant is being underwritten by a civic-minded automobile dealer, Bill McDavid, owner of Bill McDavid Oldsmobile, Inc., who is also presenting the $1000 scholarship. With the entry deadline set for June 22, and the preliminaries at the Western Skies Motel on Katy Road July 6 and 7, the quest continues here for the city?╟╓s most attractive and talented girls who can meet the official Miss America regulations. Entry blanks may be obtained at the Jaycee office, 11th floor, Commerce Building, KNUZ, and at Bill McDavid Gldstnobile, Inc,, 1401 Travis, "We know our pageant will be the biggest in Texas," Mr, Hooper declared. "Our toughest problem is to find that girl who will be the next Miss America out of all the talented and beautiful girls in Houston." 30
