September 17, 1966 Mr.W. B. Bismore Box 846 Ramona*; Calif. 92065 Dear Mr* Elsinore: Booms at the Sands are ranch the same as rooms at any other hotel. They cost more these days than they did ten years ago. (I know, because I have been traveling to bridge tournaments for twenty years, and the cost has been rising steadily --- but so has everything else.) But they are not overpriced. As you know, there are many Las Vegas hotels, competing with each other, so room rates have to be competitively priced. I*m sorry I can?╟╓t give you any exact answer, but I am sending a carbon of this to the Sands, and maybe they?╟╓ll drop a line to let you know the rates. It?╟╓s a very handsome hotel, the serirrcs is godd, and I know you?╟╓ll be pleased with that end of it. . The deadline for reservations is Sunday,. October 9th..| If necessary, you can come down that day and register in person. If you have some commitment that prevents you from coming that day, please let me know. In important cases I can arrange registration fay mail, provided that you are surely going to be there in time for play Monday October 10th at noon. I would have to be able to put in your check and would have to have some idea of how you play and whether there is some small group pf people you would prefer not to play against in the qualifying rounds, w?? are trying to seed the field ?╟÷ so that we don?╟╓t have any section overloaded with ranking experts --so we try to find out how people rank if we can. Also we try to oblige people who want to avoid playing against their next-door neighbors or clubmates in the first two days. These are difficult things to arrange by mail, so we would much prefer to see you there on Sunday, October 9th. An earlier registration would be much better, particularly because it would be so much easier for us to reserve rooms if we know how many people want the rooms. Since you asked for the deadline I gave you a truthful answer, but I hope you will find it convenient to get your entry in well before the deadline. Either way you will be most welcome. I will look for you, just in case you have any other questions on October 9th?╟÷ or at any tifcma during the tournament. (As long as you don?╟╓t ask me what to bid or play on a hand while you are actually bidding or playing it 1) ?√ß ' ' : . ' : t '-* Sincerely, i'BHHHMMR Alfred Sheinwold
