4 Robinson 2-2-2-2-2 temperature rose to 103 degrees. It was the heat, probably more than Maxim, that caught Robinson totally exhausted and unable to answer the bell for the l4th round. It was the only bout in his career in which Robinson was stopped, a TKO chalked up to a hot night. Though he annourredhis retirement as a middleweight champion in December 1952, Robinson returned to the ring less than two years later, and regained his middleweight crown, tagging Carl "Bobo" Olson in 2. From then until his eventual retirement, Robinson lost and regained the middleweight championship three times, his final title fight coming in March 1961, when he dropped a decision to Gene Fullmer, who he had beaten for the crown only four months earlier. Since his retirement from the ring, Robinson has turned to an acting career. He has done several roles on television and in films, and has been tagged as a real ?╟╓comer* in his new line. He also has been active with youth groups and has served on councils encouraging physical fitness, fair play and sportsmanship. The Sportsmen?╟╓s World Awards, conferred on those whose championship performances have stood the test of time, will be televised nationally by the Hughes Sports Network. Trans World Airlines has been designated as official carrier for the event. # # # 33
