Call to Order The ninth meeting of the Consolidated Student Senate was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Senate President Burzinski. II. Approval, of Minutes #8 There being no further additions or correction the minutes of Senate Meeting //8 stood approved. IV. Executive Board Announcements A. Regent McBride President Chanos informed the Senate that he had lunch with Regent McBride and the fee-restructure was discussed. Regent McBride suggested that at the July 25, Regent's meeting CSUN should review the entire fee-restructure at present their case in that order. There should be a general review of the entire budget. President Chanos suggested that CSUN come up witli an alternative proposal, however, it should be exactly what CSUN has now. There will be a meeting of the Ad Hoc Fee Investigation Committee on Friday,July 18 at 2:00 in President Chanos's office. B. Yell Editor Vice-President Reyes announced that next week the Executive Board's nomination for "Yell" editor will he made. C. Food Service Vice-President Reyes announced to the Senate that Saga will be providing a food truck with sandwiches for students across campus. Senate Meeting #1CF July 15, 1980 -jl C] Page 2 C. USUN'S Constitution Revision Senate President Burzinski announced to the Senate that last Sunday and Monday David Martinez and himself went to Reno to work on the Revision on the USUN'S Constitution. One-third of the Constitution has been retyped. Each Senator will receive a copy of the completed Constitution in their box. D. Senate President Announcements Senate President Burzinski announced that names plates for each Senator are being made up for the Senate meetings. Next week he will begin cross indexing Senate Meetings, any Senator willing to help feel free to come in. IV. Executive Board Nominations A. Entertainement and Programming Board Senator Karosa moved to approve Paul "Luke" Puschnig to the Entertainment and Programming Board. The motion was seconded. The motion passed unanimously. B. Publications Board Senator Kelley moved to approve Rick Oshinski as Chairman of the Publications Board. The motion was seconded. The motion passed unanimously. C. $200.00 monthly stipend, CSUN Intramural Director Senator Karosa moved to approve the $200.00 monthly stipend to the CSUN Intramural Director retroactive June 1980. The motion was, seconded. The motion passed with sixteen in favor and one abstention. D. Grant-in-aid, Intramural Director (summer,Fall 1980, Spring 1981) Senator Karosa moved to approve the Grant-in-aid to the Intramural Director for summer, Fall 1980, Spring 1981. The motion was seconded. The motion passed with sixteen in favor and one abstention. E. Epiloque Editor Senator Campbell moved to approve Anne March as CSUN Epiloque Editor. The motion was seconded. The motion passed unanimously. F. CSUN Bar Manager Senator Foskaris moved to approve Ray Lacina has the CSUN Bar Manager. The motion was seconded. Discussion took place. Senator Kelley called for the question. The motion was seconded. The call for the question passed with fourteen in favor and two opposed. The vote was taken on the main motion to approve Ray Lacina. The motion failed with one in favor, eleven opposed, and five abstentions. V. Committee Reports A. Appropriations Board No Report. B. CSUN Entertainment and Programming Board Chairman, Radford Smith, read the minutes of the July 2 Entertainment and Programming Board meeting. Senator Karosa moved to approve the minutes as read. The motion was seconded. Discussion took place. Senator Oshisnki moved to amend the minutes to make the scheduled dates for organizations planning events in the fall tentative. The amendment was seconded. Much discussion took place. Senator Martinez moved to amend the amendment by striking, "They would like to have male strippers " under the O.J.'s Diner request. The amendment to the amendment was seconded. Discussion too place. Senator Boos called for the question. The call for the question passed unanimously. A vote was taken on the amendment to the amendment which passed with thirteen in favor, three opposed, and one abstention. The Senate moved back into discussion on the amendment to the main motion. Senator Karosa called for the question. Senate Meeting July 15, 1980 Page 3 The call for the question passed with sixteen in favor and one opposed. A vote was taken on the amendment to the main motion which failed with six in favor, nine opposed, and two abstentions. Therefore, the amendment to the amendment also failed. The Senate moved back into discussion on the main motion. Lenghty discussion to place. Senator Kelly called for the question and was seconded. The call for the question passed unanimously. The main motion to approve the minutes passed with sixteen in favor, three opposed, and one abstention. Chairman Radford Smith read the minutes of the Entertainment and Programming Board meeting held on July 9th. Coffee Houses were discussed, also the Parking Lot dance. Senator Kelley moved to approve. The motion was seconded. There being no further additions or corrections the minutes stood approved as read. C. Ad Hoc Dorm Relations Board Senator Oshinski announced that the Board had moved into sub-committees. The board was working on the survey, and perhaps a CSUN handbook. Senator Reign is also looking into the possibility of a Dorm News letter. D. Ad Hoc Bicycle Committee Vice-President Reyes announced that the committee had come up with a new name, the committee would now be called the Ad Hoc Transportation Committee. She announced that Senator Petrizzo had completed the bicycle questionaire, and read it to the Senate. E. Ad Hoc Constitutional Revision Committee Senate President Burzinski announced that there would be a meeting Wednesday , July 16 at 3:00 in his office. All members please plan to attend. VII. Old Business VIII. New Business IX. Open Discussion President Chanos congratulated Radford Smith and Bruce Bradley on a successful 4th of July concert. He also commented that he was disappointed in the Senate on the subject of male strippers. President Chanos further voiced his opinion on the nomination of the Bar Manager, Ray Lacina. Senator Oshinski reminded the Senators of the Senate discussion group held on Monday nights at 8:00 p.m. at his house. Senator Oshisnki thanked the Senate for making him Publications Board Chairman. Also, he invited the Executive Board to the Senate's Monday night meetings. He requested that on the next Senate agenda ther.e be a directive concerning the nominations done by the Executive Board regarding unfilled positions. Senator Dowell gave her reasons for disapproving Ray Lacina as CSUN Bar Manager. Senator Kelley commented that male strippers might be tasteless, however, so is the wet t-shirt contest. Student Government should stay out of morality and religion. Senator Hulen suggested that both nominations for Bar Manager attending the next Senate meeting and speak to the Senate. Senator Boos commented on the nomination of Bar Manger and gave strong reasons of why she supported Dan Ardissone. She also commented that the real problem right now is the fee-restructure not male strippers, o r bar mangers. The Senate should spend Senate Meeting July 15, 1980 Page 4 it's time concerned with the fee-restructure proposal. Senator Martinez reminded the Senate that personality's should be kept out of all discussion. Also, that he agreed with Senator Boos that the fee-restruture is the most important issue facing CSUN right now. Radford Smith, Chairman of Entertainment and Programming Board, urged all Senators and Executive Board members to attend the Entertainment and Programming Board meetings. Senator Karosa moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded. The motion passed unanimously. It was annouced that nomination for the Yell editor will be on the next Senate agenda John Wennstrom announced that he would be taking a course in grants concerning foundations and donations from the government. President Chanos requested that both Dan Ardissone and Ray Lacina address the Senate next week. Senate President Burzinski said he would invite the gentlemen to speak before the Senate. X.
