JERRYJACKSON Producer-Director-Choreographer-Designer Jackson might be best known for creating the multi-award winning "Folies-Bergere" appearing at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas. Celebrating in 2008 it's 50th anniversary in America, the "Folies" has the distinction of being the longest continually running show in the United States. Besides writing, directing and choreographing this lavish musical, Jackson has designed the costumes and composed the original music and lyrics. The following is a quote from the New York magazine, "Theater WeeK": "Folies-Bergere... at the Tropicana is much more sprightly and firmly packed. Staged and choreographed by Jerry Jackson, it moves with the precision of a set of tumbling dominoes and vaunts the kind of design flair that, were it on view in a Broadway musical, would be the talk of the town. It brings to minUthat there is nothing "mere" about entertainment. The gusto, fluidity and choreographic invention that sustains "Folies-Bergere" is a real achievement wherever one might encounter it..."Folies" has the fanciest hoofers and the most aesthetically pleasing showgirls and is a marvel of synchronized stage effects." In Paris Jackson choreographed the 100th anniversary of the "Folies-Bergere" in 1967 and in 1976 he directed and choreographed the 80th anniversary of the "Casino du Paris". His expertise, however is not limited to the French Revue genre. He has enjoyed international success in a variety of other media and venues. He received critical acclaim for choreography and staging of the original Broadway musical," "7 Brides for 7 Brothers" which appeared at the Alvin Theater in New York as well as the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. Television choreographic credits include: "The 25th Anniversary of The Wonderful World of Disney" for CBS, "The Super Comedy Bowl" special for NBC, "Line Direct" for French television, "Teatro Dieci" for Rai television in Rome, 3 consecutive seasons of the weekly variety show "Tony Orlando and Dawn" for CBS and in 2007 the opening ceremonies and half time show for the "NBA All Stars" special for ABC. In addition Jackson has created acts for stars including Goldie Hawn, Lillian Montevecchi, Bobby Gentry, Shari Lewis and Juliet Prowse. In London he created the musicals, "Cilia at the Palace" and "Silver Jubilee" which appeared at the Victoria Palace Theater. Later at the London Palladium he presented excerpts from the "Folies-Bergere" for a command performance in the presence of HRM Queen Elizabeth II. In Australia he created two spectacular musicals on time travel, "Starz" and it's sequel "Galaxies". Both shows appeared at Jupiter's Theater in Queensland and was exceedingly successful with audiences and critics alike. In Guam from 1990 to 2005 he produced multi-million dollar Revue Spectaculars for "The Sandcastle", a state of the art theater. The aforementioned credits are only a few selected from the more than 75 productions in which Jackson has created or been associated. His early education and experiences have served him well. While achieving a degree in Art at UCLA he worked as an assistant to professors in the university Music Department and was an active member of the UCLA Modern Dance Department. During summer breaks he danced in various movie musicals and Las Vegas shows. Upon graduating he continued to work as a dancer in stage productions, movies, and television variety shows. For 2 seasons he was one of the two permanent male dancers on the "The Danny Kaye Show", a weekly variety show for CBS television. Later he became Hermes Pan's assistant choreographer collaborating on many projects including Francis Ford-Coppolla's "Finnian's Rainbow" starring Fred Astaire.
