<F?RE*E~MAN COMPANY PUBLIC RELATIONS 10/14 Mr* Cameron Shipp 1544 Ard Eevin Avenue Glendale, Cal* Dear Cam, was nice talking to you on the phone today and I enclosing some material on Jack, part of which you requested, and part of which I am submitting because I think it has a bearing on the story* The first attached story deals with the New Yearfs Ive idea by Entratter, aa quoted from an AP dispatch* ?╟≤# Second, we have just received an OK from the governments of the foreign countries Involved in a plan to entertain GI troops overseas with a troupe of stars produced by Entratter. This is to be called the Variety International Goodwill Tour, sponsored by the Variety Tents of America. We have been working on this for a year, and just got the OK to start on December 10. John Haskell, of Hollywood, as International Representative for Variety, is now touring the countries where we will entertain to set up the tour. The plan is to take a special Government plane, which has already been scheduled for us thru the Professional Entertainment Branch of Armed Forces Services, and thru Colonel Joseph Goetz, fill it with 6 top American performing stars such as Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Nat King Cole, etc, and a line of chorus girls, and a nucleus of 4 top musicians to be augmented by a 32- piece band in Europe from the Armed Forces ?╟÷- and tour American installations in Europe and the Far East to entertain GI*s. Also, in each country where there Is a Variety Tent, stage one big show to help raise money for that Tent's charities. The schedule starts with a show for 5000 hospitalized GI's In Washington, D.C. on December 7, and then onto Israel for December 10, followed by Athens on December IS, Rome December 20, Hamburg December 31, then Dublin, Glasgow, and London. That's the schedule so far.
