law school COMt-lITTEE

It is my intention at this time to propose a committee for the start-up of the UNLV's Law School. This committee will be composed of people who are listed below who are interested in the law school and hopefully can see to it that the law school is constructed, staffed and begins

operation.

The people that I choose, hopefully, will meet and decide and vote to form a non-profit corporation known as the UNLV Law School Foundation. If the committee below is approved, I would like to have this committee have the following authorities and duties.

1. The right to incorporate into a non profit corporation to be known as the UNLV Law School Foundation.

2. The right to solicit money on behalf of the Law School Foundation in order to fund the capitol construction costs of the UNLV Law School estimated to be

approximately $5,000,000.00.

3. The right to solicit endowments for the Law School so as to insure that the Law School has top flight professors and starts out with a nigh

academic theme that would be a model throughout the United States.

4. The right to hire architects and commence construction when the capitol funds are obtained for the Law School on the UNLV campus.

5. The right upon construction to hire a Dean for the Law School during the interim construction period in order to solicit top flight professors and staff needed for an eventual class into law school in 1982.

6. All necessary authority to put the Law School into implementation.

The above conditions would all be subject to Regent approval and there could not be design, hiring of people or any act that could be accomplished without Regent approval.

The people that I propose to name to this interim committee, which hopefully will become the UNLV Law School Foundation are;

1. Chief Justice John Mowbray;

2. Retired Supreme Court Justice Zenoff;

3. Perry Thomas, Chairman of Valley Bank;

4. Chief Judge, John Mendoza of the Eighth Judicial District Court;

5. Judge Adel Guy, Juvenile Judge, Eighth Judicial District Court;

6. Mr. A1 Marquis, Las Vegas lawyer; 7. Lisa Wyman, CSUN Vice President; 8. Lisa Miller;
9. Dale Dalehulen;

10. Chrystal Hester;
11. James L. Buchanan II, Regent of the University 12. Gerald Moffatt, Las Vegas Architect;
13. Larry Lesley, UNVL Counsel

The above list is not conclusive and of course other names could be forthcoming. It is my intention that thes'e

committee members, if they intend to form the UNLV Law School Foundation, would be the directors of such an organization.

Yours very truly.
