A ? α ? α FOUR STAR FILMS, ? α N C. April 16, 1959 Mr, A1 Freeman c/o Sands Hotel Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Alj It vas a pleasure talking with you by phone yesterday. I appreciate your cooperation and would like to outline in complete detail my proposal. As you well know, the Gillette Safety Razor Company is one of America's leading advertisers and has for years relied heavily on personality commercials. For the last World Series and successive programming, Gillette branched out from the sports field and used top Hollywood stars like John Wayne, Rock Hudson and Bob Hope. This year we would like to try a new approach. Gillette cont " * ?╟Ñ '! * the Sands Hotel ?√ß?√ß?√ß?√ßAaeid-ca'i'-hewt-^rKKgr; the ttew OIlTOttO Adjustable Is used TSyAmerica*s mostf amous stars ?╟≤ We invision the commercials having the following format. Open with a couple of glamorous establishing shots of the Sands with Tm announcer 'voice'~6ver, givlr^it a wonderful build-up. Then dissolve to the star1s dressing roomwhere wefindhim shaving. The atarthen speaks solo to camera or has dialogue with the voice over announcer, in which the star says what a great place the Sands la and that naturally he and all his famous friendswho appear there rely ??a a... the new Gillette Adjustable Razor is the greatest. All of this would occupy the first thirty seconds of the commercial. The star1a participation would then be completed. It should not take more than three hours to film. This would be folTewedTi'y"a^demons^ratlon Adjustable Razor works. We would like to make two of these openings featuring different shots of the Sands and different shots of the stars with a mghtTrWOT that they can be alternated during their usage. as American owcase where NO AGR eement or order will be binding on this corporation unless in writing and signed by an officer.
