PUBLIC RELATIONS 195 f Richmond Ave. Monty Levine HOUSTON 6, TEXAS JAckson 9-0559 July S, 1957 Mr* A1 Freeman Freeman Company Sands Hotel las Vegas, Nevada Dear Alj Ho sweat on the Sands and Miss Houston project. It has shaped up here very nicely and we have had lots of co-op from all media. As far as the date - 18th or 19th - we have spread the word that its the 18th - hut only because you stated as much via the telephone several days ago. It makes no differience to me, but because most of us will only be able to spend a week in youalls good company instead of the 10 days we talked about, the quicker we get this kid started on her training the better. We * 11 be ready to pull out of Houston early in the A.M. on the 18th. In another letter our Miss Faye Stone will be giving you some other bits of information that you had requested and some of the dippings you might be interested in seeing and passing on to Jakie Freedman. One of the couples invited by Mr. Freedman to go might not be able to make the trip because of personal reasons. If you have no objection we will open up that vacancy to the Jaycee who sells the most tickets. Several times before when we have gone out of town on promotions we invited members of the press to go along to get additional coverage. This deal of ours could very well result in the n birth of a new star?╟Ñ ... who knows. If you give me the O.K. I?╟╓m sure I can get Paul Hochuli, who is nationally known among show people for his excellent work, to come along to give daily coverage back in Houston as to just what is happening to wour girl?╟Ñ. To get this fella to come and give the follow through to the Pageant story I would gladly give up my seat on the plane. The Jayoees will be craning in with Texas hats for picture affect. After that its all summer casuals as far as the women are concerned. In the event you might have something special planned they are all bringing one dress-up rig. The problem of judges is really a problem. We can always use the old standbys, but so much has gime into this promotion we?╟╓re terribly afraid that a mediocre list of judges might give us a mediocre winner. We have just heard that a former Galveston boy - who made good might be able to make it if trans- portation were available . . . KING VIDOR, 9470 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles. Would it be possible if someone were to come from Hollywood to oover our show cm Saturday and Sunday as judges, go on from there for several days on whatever they might like to plan, then return to Houston and come back with us on the plane??? more
