STUDENT SENATE PRESIDENT MICHAEL J. AMES QUIT A, JR. SENATE SECRETARY AARON SPENCER 6 March 27, 2005 Sponsorship Proposal EIN:51-0484471 M.E.Ch.A. is honored to host the Second Annual Celebracion de los Graduados. We recognize the hard work and dedication that each and every student has devoted towards attaining a degree from an institution of higher learning. It is encouraging to see an increasing number of Latino students graduating each year and recognizing the support that friends and family have offered throughout the years. The Celebracion is a concept that has been in the minds of many students and faculty throughout the years; and with the help of dedicated faculty, staff and students, the idea has finally been made possible once again. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is constantly looking towards creating traditions; and with the establishment of The Celebracion, the students have taken an active role towards attaining this goal. With your sponsorship, this tradition may continue by establishing more cultural awareness on and off-campus. With the sponsorship of CSUN and the help of surrounding community businesses "The Celebracion''' 2004 was a success; with more than 45 students and their family members participating. This event is not limited ,o Latino students, all students are welcome to participate, and all students will be given the opportunity to register at the sign-up tables that will be available in April on various days in the MSU. This event will take place May 8, 2005 in the MSU Ballroom. Each graduate will receive a certificate of participation, a medal, and a multi-colored shawl representing diversity. Moreover, hors d'oeuvre and refreshments will be served alongside with entertainment. The planning for this event began in early January by calling more than 25 businesses asking for sponsorships (list attached). However, no business has offered their sponsorship at this time. M.E.Ch.A. has saved up $200 from past fundraisers to go towards The Celebracion; moreover, we will be having a fundraiser event on campus (selling carne asada), on Thursday March 31, 2005 by also honoring "Cesar Chavez Day." We are anticipating too earn about $500. M.E.Ch.A. has also submitted a sponsorship application to Ethnic Student Council, and are anticipating too receive $500 towards the event. Last year M.E.Ch.A. was granted a sponsorship of $3,000 from CSUN and had a total cost of $5,000. This year M.E.Ch.A has cut back on costs at a total of $ 3,800. M.E.Ch.A. asks for a sponsorship of $2,200 from CSUN for this years event (budget is attached). I want to thank you for your time and consideration. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at valle esther@hotmail.com or 702-461-4542.
