Las Vegas Match An Intergenerational Homesharing Program For Seniors 732-0304 Home Sharing - How Does Las Vegas Match Work? When you contact our office, we answer your questions and arrange for a personal interview. At the interview, you and a staff person will discuss your housing needs, preferences, concerns and expectations. Based on the criteria you have given us, we will select potential homesharers. If you decide to homeshare, a trial period is suggested, after which a homesharing lease is negotiated. Las Vegas Match will provide ongoing assistance to ensure your homesharing experience goes smoothly. Cost Sharing - What is Homesharing? Homesharing is two or more unrelated people who pool their personal and financial resources and share a home. Each resident has his/her private bedroom and shares common areas such as living room and kitchen. There are a variety of homesharing arrangements. They may include a payment of rent for space or a reduction of rent in exchange for a service such as cooking, cleaning or shopping. Homesharing can involve older contemporaries or younger and older people. Whether you are a renter or a homeowner, single or a couple, Homesharing through Las Vegas Match may be a housing choice worth considering. Las Vegas Match carefully screens, interviews, and matches compatible people in homesharing arrangements. "Las Vegas Match" a senior homesharing program, is a welcome addition to the range of services available to persons age 60 and older in the Las Vegas community. During the first 12 months of operation the program has been highly successful in establishing a valuable intergenerational homesharing program for seniors. Jewish Family Service Agency of Las Vegas recognized the need for the service and initiated the program during August of 1988. The Nevada Division for Aging Services and United Way of Southern Nevada awarded grants for the coming year to help the program grow. Voluntary financial contributing by individuals and the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas also support the program. Personal references are checked. You will be informed of possible homesharing choices. Introductions will be ar-ranged by Las Vegas Match staff. If you decide to share, a trial period is suggested, after which a homesharing lease is negotiated. Las Vegas Match provides ongoing assistance to ensure the homesharing experience goes smoothly. Who Can Use Las Vegas Match?
