The heavens declare Your glory, the arch of sky displays Your handiwork. The heavens declare the glory of God. i In Your love You have given us the power to behold the beauty of Your world, robed in all its splendor. The sun and the stars, the valleys and hills, the rivers and lakes ? all disclose Your presence. The earth reveals God's eternal presence. The roaring breakers of the sea tell of Your awesome might; the beasts of the field and the birds of the air bespeak Your wondrous will. Life comes forth by God's creative will. In Your goodness You have made us able to hear the music of the world. The raging of the winds, the whisperings of trees in the wood, and the precious voices of loved ones reveal to us that You are in our midst. A divine voice sings through all creation. * * * * * * At the beginning of the creation of the world, the Holy One, blessed be he, began with planting first. For it is written: "And die Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden" (Gen.a:8). You too when you enter the land shall engage in nothing but planting. Therefore it is written: "And when ye shall come into the land, ye shall have planted . . . " (Lev.ig:23). * * ->: ?>: ?>:? ?>: - R E M A R K S BY R A B B I A K S E L R A D - Baw-rooch ah-taw Ado-noy, Elo-hay-noo meh-lech haw-o-lawm, bo-ray p'ree haw-aytz. And He said: This is a beautiful world that I have given you. Take good care of it; do not ruin it. It is said: Before the world was created, the Holy One kept creating worlds and destroying them. Finally He created this one, and was satisfied. He said to Adam: This is the last world I shall make. I place it in your hands: hold it in trust. Special thank you to Claude Rosenthal who has chaired and organized the tree planting and Bar-b-que for today. In addition our thanks go to Jeff He it for his assistance in preparing the land for the tree planting. Rabban Yohanan ben Zakkai used to say: If there be a plant in your hand when they say to you: Behold the Messiah! ? Go and plant the plant, and aftenvard go out to greet him.
