I agree.UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA, LAS VEGAS Office of the President 4505 Maryland Parkway Las Vegas, Nevada 89154 (702) 739-3201 December 2, 1985 Mr. Mark Fine, President American Nevada Corporation 2501 North Green Valley, No. 101 Henderson, Nevada 89105 Dear Mark: w I would like to invite you to serve as a member of the steering committee of the new Nevada Institute of Contemporary Art. You are an obvious choice, because of your interest in art and your commitment to this community. I know you have a busy schedule, but I hope it is not too busy for you to find time to join with us in the important formative stages of our new Institute. I would like for you to serve as Chair of the advisory committee, and Mr. Tom Holder will be the Director of the Institute. The Institute will be affiliated with our Department of Art. That relationship gives us access to the faculty's expertise in the world of contemporary art. They are an outstanding faculty. Since the Institute will be a University organization, final approval of all its decisions must be vested in the University, through its chief executive officer. One of the first orders of business of the steering committee will be the appointment of the remainder of the advisory board to the Institute. That advisory board will be crucial to the success of the Institute, since it will decide which exhibits will be held, and how long they will last, and will deal in general with the problems associated with such matters. This Board will assist the University in securing funding for the exhibits. Although the group will technically function in an advisory role to the University, the board for all practical purposes will be the policy making authority for the Institute. I hope you can make room in your life for this worthwhile committee; its success depends on people like you. Warm personal regards. Sincerely, Robert C. Maxson President RCMrlk
