Mr. Clyde E. Houston PNaogvee mb2er 27, 1951 I assume that these snow fall surveys and checks were made by you or under your direction and that you have official data with respect thereto which I presume has been incorporated in the snow surveys which you sent me. If I am correct In that assumption, I would like very much to have you testify as a witness in this case on*January 22, 1952, your testimony emphasising the serious lack pf snow fall in the mountain ranges which feed the Las Vegas Valley Water Basin, and the resulting effect thereof on the water supply in the Las Vegas Basin. I think pur surveys as I read them correctly emphasise that fact and it may be that you have more detailed information which you could use. There Is one thing I am quite interested In and possibly you can develop from your records and that is as to the approximate time it takes for the snow fall in the ranges around Las Vegas to reach the Las Vegas Valley Water Basin. I do not know whether any study along that line has ever been attempted but my point is, of course, obvious to you—that if the snow fall last winter on these ranges was only 10# of normal, would that mean that for the summer of 1952 we could expeot a similar decrease in the water supply in the Las Vegas basin? I do not know whether it would be necessary for you to be subpoened in this case tut if so, I will arrange to have the Commission subpoena you and of course we will pay your transportation and other expenses as well as any fee we may agree upon for your services as an expert witness. It is quite possible we will desire to have you in Las Vegas Monday morning, January 21st, 1952, to go over your testimony prior to the hearing but after we have arranged for your attendance, I can advise you later on that point. I might state, for your information, that at another hearing in Las Vegas last fall, Mr. Thomas W. Robinson testified and you may talk with him if you desire about the arrangements made for his testimony. Very truly yours Ene E. E. Bennett
