The staff at Nathan Adelson Hospice feel it is time for the community to become aware of this outstanding local resource of medical care and emotional support for those in need. In short, the Nathan Adelson Hospice is a uniquely qualified, fully developed Hospice care program for terminally ill patients and their families. This care, provided both in the home and in our inpatient facility, is delivered through team workers, clergy and volunteers! Its goal is to maintain quality of life, comfort and dignity for the patient. To deliver our message to the community, we have developed a core group of speakers. These speakers are trained presenters and fully oriented to all aspects of our program. They offer both a personal and professional description of our commitment to this program and to this community. We look forward to meeting with you and your organization to introduce our services. Sincerely, Betsy E. Peirson Executive Director mm How to Obtain a Speaker for Your Meeting The Nathan Adelson Hospice Speakers Bureau is ready to supply your group with a speaker at your convenience. In addition to volun-teers, members of our medical staff are also available if your group is interested in the technical aspects of terminal care. All speakers have completed a six-week training course which included speech preparation and evaluation of video tape presentations. Each speaker is experi-enced in telling the Hospice story and is prepared to provide your organization with an unforgettable program. Please give a call and arrange your first program. We are ready to go! What is Hospice and Why Should Your Group Be Interested? Hospice is a philosophy of care for those patients with a life-shortening illness for whom the goal is comfort and dignity rather than cure. The Nathan Adelson Hospice is both a licensed home health care agency and a licensed acute care facility with programs to achieve the following goals: ? Prevention and control of pain and other distress symptoms. ? Patient to maintain control as long as possible and with maximum dignity. ? Education of caregivers on health care services that can be delivered at home. ? Alleviation of loneliness, anger, and fear through team intervention with patients and families. Support groups are available during the period of illness and later during their time of bereavement. It is difficult to find someone who has not been touched in some way by a death due to a terminal illness. Nathan Adelson Hospice offers an alternative program of care where the needs of the patient and family are our primary concern. It is important that we all become aware of this important trend in health care, not only as a resource for ourselves and/or our families, but also to enable us to provide vital information to a friend in need of Hospice services. 4141 Swenson Street Las Vegas, Nevada 89119 / (702) 733-0320
