October 10th Dear Zeidan: I've been homejust a week and have finally been able to dispose of some of the responsibilities waiting for me. And now I have time to write to my friends in Israel. This had been my fourth trip to Israel and the one I enjoyed most. It has always been my desire to have an interfaith group join me on such a trip and this turned out to be better than expected. One of the highlites was being in your home. It was such a warm and joyous evening. I'm sure it was quite a task for Zahia and the other women who helped. The food, the companionship, your hospitality brought us all closer together. I am anxious to see Zahia again in this country and am looking forward to returning the hospitality. After Israel, I spent a week in Egypt. I enjoyed the country and the people. I think they are tired of being the foot soldiers for the Saudis, the Kuwaitis and the Palestinians. It is a very poor country and they are fortunate enough to have all those wonderful antiquities on which to help their tourism grow. Hopefully, some day soon they will be able to work out some kind of common market idea with Israel. I met young Egyptians who would love to visit Israel. I have the feeling that some of them might want to stay. Wherever I go, everyone seems to agree with you.. "Don't give up the Golan Heights." The Egyptians refer to Asaad as a "fox." Please convey my best wishes to Zahia and give her a hug for me. She's a lovely lady and I hope to see her here. Please let me know in advance because I wouldn't wi^t to be out of the State and miss her. As always, in deep friendship
