In your outline of "STARZ II", I am pleased you are using the Venus, Argentinian Goucho, and Vienna numbers from the original presentation. When I wrote these numbers they were well thought out and Ifm sure I can develop them into excellent moments. However, I do have some problems with the following: I. In Japan, I think it wrong to do the "Mikado" or "Madame Butterfly". These are English and Italian adaptations of the Orient. We will be going to Japan at a specific time in history. I think it best to do a story based on their historv or folklore, possibly using a Japanese magician who might also be a central character in the story, if the budget allows. However, I don't think we should use Gilbert and Sullivan or Puccini's music. II. Moscow worries me for two reasons. First, 19th century Moscow and 19th century Vienna had court costumes that were very similar in appearance and secondly, I think it unwise to stage a revolution when at present, the world seems to be revolting (in one way or another). People see enough upheaval on the news and don't need to be reminded of it in our show. III. I'm not sure I understand London. Is there an idea behind the three songs? I can't seem to make anything exciting out of "Let's Go Down To The Strand", "Lambeth Walk" or "Underneath The Arches". IV. The finale seems unexciting also. Ninety per cent of the Australian songs you've listed have moderate to slow tempi. In addition, they are spread over a large time span (i.e. "Waltzing Matilda"-1890's and "Tie Me Kangaroo Down"-1960's). I don't know how to justify this in our time travel premise. I also have been working diligently doing lots of research to make "STARZ II" as good as, or hopefully* better than "STARZ I". I'm trying to find fasinating places that have moments in history from which excitment can be derived. I'm also working on the prospect of traveling into the future more, and dazzling the audience with true imagination and justified fantasy. Rather than copying our present success I'm searching for even more originality, as well as effects.
