I agree.'99 11x01 13 s 2 0 S 366 7809 INSPIRATION 01 7\ ^Q2y 3*t4P*^0 Chuck McCarrol! Production manager Sandcastle Tumon Bay Guam 1 Nov 1999 Fax No 0011 1671 649 7262 $9t Pf tim - Prawttw Nun^r, Dear Chuck W?½ have sent off to you final drawings for the latest precussion number sat. Airway bill No. C*VV_.. 3443223151. Jerry has also been sent a copy too which is on its way, They show six Palm Trees on castors. The structures should aft be made out of metal to enable cast members to tap them & make sounds ryfchmeticalty. They should also be light enough forthe dancers to push them around easily. The palm tree leaves start off, folded up vertlcaiy behind each other, so that in the beginning of the dance number, the top of the Tree looks like a spear. It requires a simple release cable mechanisirn to allow the leaves to fan down quickly into the palm tree look. Probably with a cable attached to the back of the pivoted leaves & running down the inside of the trunk. It should then reappear & end as a ring attached to a hook When the ring is released from the hook by the dancer, the leaves own weight makes them fall open. The paint finish for the units is to be a satin finish mid grey so that the stage lighting wiil provide the means to turn the trees into a variety of different colors. The other part of the setting are two wooden framed flats which we have indicated could be made in three parts each for shipment. These flats look like large louvred shutters. They are to be painted with the same grey as the palm trees but in matt paint. The flats are then to be covered entirely on the downstage face with a grey sharkstooth gauze or similar, So that when lit from the front we do not see the flats . When lit from behind they appear as the shutters. Lighting gobos & colored shapes will be cast over them.
