I agree.I n t e r - D e p a r t m cn t G or r e s p o n d e nee To: Al Benedict, Jack Entratter From: AF Subject: "Name of the Game" Telecast in Lais "Vegas Date. 7/7/70 I recommend that we do not house the NBC crew, or co- operate in anyway with filming this telecast in Las Vegas ?╟≤for the following reasons: 1. The story line features Las Vegas as the locale for a series of several derogatory scenes, including beatings, violence such as hotel doors being kicked in and finally an explosion in a hotel room which obviously would be the Sands, in an attempt to kill an entertainer. 2. The story line also covers several gangster-type characters, a setup "accident" involving a car going over a cliff, and finally a confession that on Lake Mead a girl was drowned during a wild party on a boat. 3. The story line also contains the "bugging" of private conversations by the use of an electronic device in a man's coat and ends with a wild police chase in Hoover Dam. The requirements for the show would be 65 rooms for ten days starting July 22nd, and we could have divided them among all the Hughes Hotels. The actual promotion besides the script and video shots would be a picture of the hotel which would be shown at the end of the film plus 15 words of copy. The story line itself is enough to recommend turning down cooperation on this show, but the amount of credit if the story line were good, is not comparable or commensurate to the kind of credit we should get if we were to cooperate with this show.
