COLUMBIA RECORDS 799 SEVENTH AVENUE, NEW YORK 19, NEW YORK ?╟≤ CIRCLE 5*7300 A Division of Columbia Broadcasting System, Inc. July 15, 1959 Mr. A1 Freeman THE SANDS HOTEL Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Al: I am sorry it is taking so long to confirm our phone conversation on the forth- coming plans of Columbia Phonographs and Columbia Record Distributors fall promotion of "Play At The Sands." This program will begin August 1 in the Chicagoland and Midwestern markets. The program consists as follows: A free trip will be offered to the consumers via United Air Lines to the Sands Hotel for four days of fun and play. The campaign will be kicked off in news- paper advertising, General Outdoor Advertising billboards and each dealer cooperat ing will have a window display showing our record and portable line with the advertising theme built around the Sands Hotel brochure - we are having this brochure blown up to ten times the present size. The consumer trip will be given away on a purely raffle-type promotion. We are directing the consumer to partici- pating dealers for a demonstration of our Columbia "stereophonic projection" phonograph and a stereo-fidelity record during which time they will be presented a United Air Line baggage check (sample enclosed) to be filled out with their name and address. Five drawings will be held and the winner announced at that time. Our Open House has indicated thus far that of our LOO dealers in the Chicagoland area, some 250 dealers will participate in this activity. Enclosed you will find the sample photograph of the window now at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago and a window of this type will be used by our dealers in August. If there is anyway that you can help in defraying part of this cost, it would be greatly appreciated as I feel sure that the impact will have great advertising and merchandising value for the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hoping to hear from you in the near future, I remain Yours very sincerely, William J. Lemanski, District Sales Manager WJLsres attachments w
