JAY J. SARNO ? "THE MAGIC TOUCH" ? Reducing dreams to imaginative buildings has become a way of life for Jay J, Sarno. Take Circus Circus, for example. In 1967, weeks ahead of time, an undercurrent of excitement began to creep over Las Vegas. First, over the rain-stained election signs and faded notices, there suddenly appeared, as if. they bloomed overnight, the hugh bright bill-boards. Larger than life aerialists flew gracefully and tigers leapt ferociously from a poster. Boys and girls stood transfixed in their path, gawking endlessly. The rest of the year that vacant lot was just another barren weedy field. On October 18, 1968, that barren field became the most important piece of real estate in the county, a city that throbbed with activity. It was Circus Circus I For Jay Sarno it was a childhood dream come true - the world1s largest permanent circus. One of the most photographed places in the world, Circus Circus plays host to over three million visitors annually. A new dimension was unveiled last July at Circus Circus with the opening of a 15-story tower of luxurious rooms and suites and a magnificent Spa for men and women. New convention facilities were also opened. Today for Jay J. Sarno is Circus Circus Hotel, Spa and Casino Let's take a look at yesterday and examine some of the Sarno history. - 2 - It was Jay J. Sarno who conceived, built, and operated Caesars Palace Hotel in Las Vegas from 1965 through 1969. The success of this magnificent hotel is legendary in hotel circles. Built at a cost of $20 Million, it sold for over $80 Million. Sarno has been called flamboyant, dreamer, gregarious, creative, brilliant, promoter, genius, self-propelled. He is probably all of these things and more. He is one of a kindl Another Sarno innovation is the LeMans Speedway, offering a modern version of the old bumper car fun. This plan, which got its start at Circus Circus, promises to go nationwide. The Slots-A-Fun and Big Wheel Casinos are other Las Vegas properties developed by Jay Sarno. Before making his considerable mark in Las Vegas history, Jay J. Sarno had already compiled an impressive list of building credits. The Atlanta Cabana Motor Hotel, The Dallas Cabana Motor Hotel, and the Palo Alto Cabana Motor Hotel were built at a combined cost of over $14 Million. Other Sarno developments include: Augusta Terrace Motel, N. Augusta, S.C. Augusta Terrace Motel, Atlanta, Georgia Brookwood North Apartments, Atlanta, Georgia Barbizon Tower Apartments, Atlanta, Georgia Chattanooga Doctors' Building, Chattanooga, Tenn. Marshall Taylor Doctors' Building, Jacksonville, Fla. An example of Jay J. Sarno1s innovative spirit is the creation of the "Sarno Block". When he could not find the - 3 - building material he wanted, he designed a solar screen block which today bears his name and for which he receives a royalty for its use. Jay J. Sarno has a relentless desire to create and to build, and you can be certain that what he creates and builds will have that Sarno touch. Call it imagination, love, showmanship. Call it what you will. That magic intangible produces results that are very special.
