    249 Additional Commissioner Peccole moved the application of Earl E . Wilson, Desert Sands Trading, 232 Fremont for license for one additional slot machine for the first quarter of 1 9 5 3 be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Commissioner Jarrett moved the application of Daves Steams and Joseph Wolf, Santa Anita Turf and Bar, 113 Fremont Street for license for one additional "21" game for the first quarter of 1953 Be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. LIQUOR APPLICATION Desert Snack Bar New Owner Commissioner Peccole moved the application of Edith A. Joerger, Desert Snack Bar, 222 North Main St, for a Restaurant Beverage License for the first quarter of 1953 be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole, and His Honor Mayor P r o Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. MINUTES Commissioner Peccole moved the Minutes of February 3 , 4 and 6, 1953, be approved by reference and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. LEGISLATIVE MATTERS Bill #37 Senate Howard Cannon, City Attorney reported to the Board on Senate Bill No. 37 that is now pending before the legislature. Mr. Cannon explained that if this bill passes the City will be required to publish quarterly a statement of the finances of the City. Commissioner Peccole moved the City Attorney be instructed to notify the Clark County Delegation that the Board of Commissioners are opposed to this Senate Bill No. 37. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none, Absent: Mayor Baker, Assessmbly Bill Nos. 17 & 31 t Discussion was held on Assembly Bill No. 17 which provided payment of a fee of $5.00 to witnesses subpoenaed for criminal cases, and A s s e m b l y Bill No. 31 providing for the transfer of funds from other funds upon the declaration of an emergency by the County Commissioners. Commissioner Peccole moved the City Attorney be instructed to contact the Clark County delegation to the state legislature and make exception to Assembly Bill Nos. 17 and 31. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. DAWSON PROPERTY Discussion was held on the reported unsanitary condition of the Dawson Property located at 720 Desert Lane. i Commissioner Jarrett moved that D.L. Dawson, 720 Desert Lane be notified to conform with all City Ordinances. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. BOULDER DAM HOMESITE NO. 6 Final Map Commissioner Jarrett moved the final map of Boulder Dam Homesite No, 6 be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. ORDINANCE NO. 522 Sign fees An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 233, ALSO KNOWN AS CHAPTER 7 CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, BY CHANGING. TEE PERMIT AND INSPECTION FEES FOR B I L L B O A R D ELECTRICAL SIGNS: PROVIDING FOR DETAILED INFORMATION TO BE FURNISHED THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT UPON APPLICATION FOR A PERMIT; PROVIDING PROCEDURE FOR VIOLATIONS; AND OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ordinances PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Jarrett and Whipple was read in full to the Board. Thereafter Commissioner moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 522 he adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. ORDINANCE NO. 523 Civil Service An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE To AMEND EMERGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 468 ENTITLED: "AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, COUNTY OF CLARK, STATE OF NEVADA, CREATING AND ESTABLISHING CIVIL SERVICE RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE EMPLOYEES OF SAID CITY, DEFINING TERMS; PROVIDING FOR EXAMINATION ESTABLISHING ELIGIBILITY LISTS; PROVIDING FOR APPOINTMENTS; PROMOTIONS; DISCIPLINARY ACTION; REPORTS AND RECORDS; CLASSIFICATION AND PAY PLANS; AND ALL MATTERS RELATING THERETO; AND REPEALING ORDINANCE 391 AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH," BY CHANGING THE AGE REQUIREMENTS AND PROVIDING FUR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS OF APPLICANTS FOR THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS of THE CITY; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Bunker and Jarrett was read in full to the Board. Thereafter Commissioner Bunker moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 523 he adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole, and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. BUILDING CODE ADOPTION Commissioner Bunker moved the proper notice he given that the 1952 Edition of the Uniform Building Code is on file and will be adopted by the Board of Commissioners. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. ORDINANCE NO. 524 Liquor An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 16, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, AS AMENDED BY PROHIBITING THE SALE OF INTOXICATING LIQUORS WITHIN FOUR HUNDRED (400') FEET OF ANY CHURCH, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Bunker and Peccole was read in full to the Board at this time. Commissioner Bunker moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 524 he adopted.
