Considerable discussion was held and it was suggested that Conway, Moe, Hibbs and Funston examine the books of the garbage contractor. Commissioner Bunker moved the tentative map of Charleston Heights Subdivision be approved subject to the connection of Fir Avenue with Decatur Boulevard. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Sharp moved the tantative map of Elstner Manor be give to the City Engineer for a property check by all the City Departments. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Bunker passed his vote. Commissioner Bunker moved all bids for construction of improvements for Assessment District No. 100-27 be rejected. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, Commissioner Sharp. At this time the Board considered the appeal filed by Ola H. Garner on the denial of her variance application to maintain a commercial barbecue pit and stand at 1417 "H" Street. Thereafter Commissioner Jarrett moved a public hearing be set for June 16 1954 at 7:30 P.M. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time the City Attorney reported on the claim for damages by Gladys Guthrie in the amount of $1,355.00 for a fall in the auditorium located in the Las Vegas City Hall. Thereafter Commissioner Whipple moved this claim for damages be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time the City Attorney reported on the claim of Edward Maier for damage to property at 205 Spencer. Thereafter Commissioner Sharp moved this claim for damages be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. The City Attorney at this time reported on the status of "A" Street. Thereafter Commissioner Bunker moved to refer this matter to the City Engineer. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time the Board considered the application of Smith and Chandler for further extension of time at 110 Fremont until June 31, 1954. Considerable discussion was held and it was decided to hold this matter in abeyance until June 2, 1954.
