I agree.October 5, 1954 Mr, Gene Murphy Desert Inn Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Genet With reference to our telephone conversation the other day on the Las Vegas press flight, this is to bring you up-to-date on the status of the invitations, I talked with Irv Kupcinet of the "Sui**Tl??es" and he is planning a trip to the West Coast within the next two weeks to arrange f or talent for the newspaper *s annual "Harvest Moon festival," He is attempting to arrange his schedule to stop at Las -Vegas and will let me know later this week how his plans develop. I also talked to Tony Weitzel at the "Chicago Daily News" and he is interested in going but is attempting to make arrangements with the sponsors of his television show. As far as Nate Gross of the "Chicago American" is concerned, he too is interested in going but indicated that he will not go if either Weitzel or Kupcinet makes the same trip. We left it that I would keep him posted on the acceptances and possibly he will come out on the press flight or at a later date. The other Chicago columnist, Will Leonard of the "Tribune," has been on vacation and I won?╟╓t be aide to reach him until next week, I also talked to Paul Gibson at CBS here and he too is very interested in making the trip, but at the moment, he is attempting to get a visa to visit Yugoslavia about the same time as the Las Vegas trip. If, however, he cannot get his visa, he indicated he would like to make the trip, I know, Gene, that you appreciate the problems in arranging a flight of this kind where it is very seldom that you get a positive answer on the first go-around. You can be sure, however, that we are staying on top of it and am hopeful that we can get together the best and most produc- tive representative group from Chicago,
