DIRECTOR DUBRAVAC JOINED THE MEETING AT THIS TIME. CLARK COUNTY - APPROVAL OF FIRE HYDRANT RATE Manager Renshaw explained that the County had recently installed some 23 fire hydrants and that it would be necessary to establish a rate to cover these hydrants. He further advised that he had calculated a rate on the same basis as used for the City of Las Vegas, namely, by applying the metered rate for water used for purposes other than fire fighting, and the actual cost of water to the quantity used for fire fighting. He had checked the County’s use for other than fire fighting and found they had one sprinkler truck which normally filled four or five times a week at the hydrant near the Flamingo Hotel. The portion of the charge covering water for fire fighting purposes was estimated on the basis of the number of hydrants belonging to the County as compared with the number in the City of Las Vegas. The quantity for the City of Las Vegas was previously estimated on the basis of records from other cities. As calculated, the charge for water for other than fire fighting came to about $8.13. The total charge was rounded to $10. The Manager recommended that the charge be established at $10.
