REgent 5-1122 Office of EUGENE MURPHY Advertising and Publicity Director Desert inn & Stardust Hotels ?╟÷ Las Vegas November 5, 1962 Mr. Jim Deitch Las Vegas News Bureau Convention Center Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Jim: tOO' Bob Tamplin, onetime/producer of the Ed Sullivan Show, is now working on other television shows out of New York City. He has proposed by mail that a live program to be known as "Las Vegas Lounge11 be produced under his direction and that this program would be a one hour long show emanating each week from a different lounge in Las Vegas. By lounge I mean this would be limited to the major hotels. He provided me with a program outline on October 29, and subsequent to that I wrote him and talked to him, pointing out many of the things in his program outline which were not possible for our hotels to handle. He has now sent another proposal, and this proposal would include the possibility of staging the show from on?║ central location rather than from different hotels.^ This is being suggested because the show might not go on the air until 7:00 pm Las Vegas time, which would make it inconvenient to telecast from a lounge, or as he had previously suggested,from the main showroom of the participating hotel. In addition to presenting the outstanding attractions of a hotel's lounge, there would also be a contest which will be done by telephone. People who are viewing the
