ACT I 1-8-41 Rev. 4/8/82 Rev. 5/11/82 Scene 8 SETTING. Interior: the Pontipee house, early the next morning. Coffee is on the stove. Hot biscuits are in the oven. Leftovers from a breakfast for two are on the table. AT RISE: A rooster crows OFFSTAGE. ADAM and MILLY are in the bedroom. MILLY Adam, your brothers aren't too young to get married. Even Gideon is marryin' age. ADAM If it makes you happy Milly, go ahead with your little shenanigans I?╟╓ve got to get started with today's chores. e Hey time! (MILLY puts the finishing touches on the bed while ADAM goes down the steps. As he passes the brothers' door on his way to the kitchen door:) ADAM (knocking on their door) Waite" UP in there. (Yelling as he exits) Work aHB (ALL BROTHERS grumble) (MILLY comes down the stairs) MILLY(calling off to ADAM) You want some more coffee? ADAM (coming in with a bucket of water) No thanks. I had my f 11. (He dumps the bucket into the sink) u m things' ve worked out between us.... (handing her the bucket) here... Now don?╟╓t be too hard on my brothers. 1 *-?╟≤ MILLY (innocently) Why Adam Pontipee, what ever could you mean by that? (ADAM exits. MILLY checks the stove, then goes out the back door with the bucket. The door to the BROTHERS?╟╓' room opens. FRANK comes flying out, followed by CALEB and GIDEON. They are all in their long Johns.)
