Page 1 of 2 Henry and Anita Schuster From: Judy Newman Sent: Saturday, February 17, 2007 8:33 PM To: Subject: Board Meeting On February 11 we had a meeting of the Board of Directors at Senior Lifeline. Anita introduced a potential new Treasurer - Linda Borenstein. The Board voted unanimously in favor of making Linda a new treasurer. Linda reported that as of January '07 we had $4,519 at our disposal. Bruno Borenstein announced a meeting of Second Generation Group on first Sunday in March (3/4/07). There will be a discussion about efforts being made for all the survivors being able to have access to archives on lost moneys confiscated from Jews during the Second World War. A Congressman from Florida has brought up the issue to Congress. The Holocaust Survivor Foundation has retained an attorney that will get to open the archives that were kept by Germans all those years. We were trying for a while now to get our grant increased and we finally got it to $7,500 annually. In order to get these funds we must spend the money, and then we get reimbursed. Gina: We got an unusual request from an Airbase in Barstow. They asked to set a day with a Holocaust Survivor, so we thought of Sasha, who would make a perfect candidate. They offered to pick him up in a limo on March 25th, but Sasza still performs and could not do it on this date. In order to accommodate him, the Airbase agreed to change the date, and even offered to pay $600 which they will donate to Holocaust Survivors Group. On April 15 - Shoah Day, we will meet at Ner Tamid in Henderson. The Key-Note speaker will be Debra Lipstad. Since it is a long ride, a bus will be available to take us there from Temple Beth Am, at the Clark County Library. We need new ideas. Lydia suggested that at some of our meetings we should spice them up by showing some important videos. It is a video about not allowing people into the US before the war started in 1939. Bruno is planning a meeting and would like to introduce the video Lydia talked about. Gina made a comment on why some Jews did not participate in protests against State Departments decisions, not to let Jews into the US before the war. We all should try to share in some ideas or things, like bringing memorabilia from the wartime, to share photos, etc., and donate to the Holocaust Library. We need to get involved. Lydia: offered to donate pictures from Bergen-Belsen, (people being taken from Belsen to Kubek, to Denmark and Sweden). 2/19/2007 Page 2 of 2 We would like to donate $1,000 to the Jewish Family Service and Food Certificate. Jean Lesser will take care of things. Anita: Program for General Meeting. Maybe we can recruit some politicians, entertainers, etc. to participate in our meetings. Also we discussed going to a theater as a group. Henry suggested that we go to Goldcoast for dinner and a show that would cost $81 per couple of which the Group would subsidize $40. Making the final cost $21 per person. We would like to repeat a Shoah luncheon at the Airforce Base at Nellis. We will donate the soldiers lunch at the base. 2/19/2007
