SCOTT ; LAS VEGAS, July 4 ?╟÷ 5 That tired old cliche, j ?╟úThere's No Business Like Show Business,?╟╓?╟╓ has been/ . given frfesh, .significant meaning. Blase Ye g a n s/ /used to the best, in avail- ?╟ able stage entertainment, joined with HoLlywo6d J celebrities and 75 members of the press from far and near points in acclaiming! the Paris Lido revue i which opened the sensa- rtional Cafe Continental in f the brand-new Stardust [ Hotel over the holiday | week end. * Approval of this show, which, truly deserves the term spectacular, was com- pletely and wholehearted- ; ly unanimous. Rarely do i productions live up to their 5 advance billing as this one does. / Brought' from Paris for a six-month run and staged with fine showmanship by Donh Arden, the revue combines4 uhukual scenic effects* noteworthy special- ty acts and dozens of fe- males, including the famous /Bluebell Girls, a group of long-legged, beau- ties who wear no covering from the waist up in pa- rade and tableau routines. It is all very artistic &nd not offensive. GREAT ACT Specialty acts from the' far corners of the globe are uniform l y outstanding. There?╟╓s a juggler, / Eric Brenn, for instance, who knocked the opening-night audience for a loop as he kept seven plates and five glass bowls on long poles whirling simultaneously, Gino Donati, an Italian tenor, also scored with a partner, who was not cred- ited, in a very clever song- and-acrobatic act. . Pantomime had big in- nings with George Campo and his feminine helper LindaMarvell. And Mar- vin Roy, magician, offered an off-beat routine which had viewers gasping. It is impossible to de- scribe this show adequate- ly in a round-up column. The stage has few equals I in the world, boasting six I hydraulic lifts, a swim- Iming pool, and an ice rink I on which Jacqueline Du I Bief, nominal star of the ?√ßshow, skated beautifully. J There were innovations in I costumes and lighting. The revue was originally conceived by Pierre Louis Guerin and Rene Fraday; who took well-deserved bows along with Arden, Frank Sennes and others r e s p o n s i b 1 e for its suc- cess. y. ^
