Yet if it hadn't been for 2 flop shows on Broadway, she might still be a young struggling singer, When M rguerite arrived in Hew York a few years ago she was already a home-town success. She had won several singing competitions in her native New Orleans, frid been Queen of one of its Mardi Gras balls, and had her own show on iadio for over a year. Arriving in Now York, she was overwhelmed by the big town, and too shy to present the letters of introduction she had been given. She sat in her hotel room, writing letters home to mot1 er recounting all the exploits she was too much aprisoner of her own timidity to try to start.
