Jimmy Donn Excluded at Own Track. TROPICAL PARK, Coral Gables, Fla., Dec. 15.?╟÷The eagerly awaited battle between the two apprentices, Tony DeSpirito and Willie Lester for riding honors, will be launched on Christmas Eve. Lester, who is a New York development, and the swarthy skinned youngster from the New England sector, who is showing the way to all American riders, were to have started, tomorrow. The drum beats of the publicity department were stilled when DeSpirito was grounded for foul riding. This meeting of the two will be a welcome Christmas gift for Tropical Park and something of a bonanza for the visiting turf scribers, who, by the way, have separated into two camps. The outlook for the New Englander to top the record is none too promising, for time is short and with the arrival of some of the older and more experienced saddle stars on the winter scene choice mounts will be not too plentiful. The battle between the two youngsters should be something worth while. Lester, who hails from West Virginia, was the toast of Bowie, where his riding feats were among the features of the meeting beset by more set-backs than many tracks encounter in a lifetime. Steve Dimauro, who earlier in the season at the New York tracks showed promise, resumed riding here today. This youngster figured in the worst spill of the New York season, at Aqueduct, and, for a time, it was feared that his career was ended. The youngster suffered a broken leg, back injuries, and assorted bruises. He battled his way back and, after galloping a lot of horses in recent weeks, reported to the doctors, was passed and returned to lacing. Thel Auld Scot Tvas gifted with a yearling at the banquet at which he was guest of honor, and at that time gave no heed to the problem with which he is now faced, where to stable him. The youngster was vanned to Gulf stream Park of which Jimmy is president. The rules state that no yearlings shall be allowed on the grounds unless the owner has three or more older horses. Jimmy is short in that! department and for the present he is riding thel horns of a dilemma.. .Trainer Toward Hoffman,] -who has Ada L. Rice's horses in his care, reports] that the Chicago-owned stable is coming along nicely. He has great hopes for the Washington Park Futurity winner, Mr. Paradise, who will be ready for engagements at Hialeah. The Rices, Dan and Ada, are due later for ajtengthy vacation.
