Draff Card Desfruction Scorned by Vegas Exec An Army officer with 28 years df service said yesterday that the burning of draft cards was an act which he termed "shameful and disgusting." Brig. Gen. Charles Baron, U.S. Army Reserve, a Sands Hotel executive, said the persons participating in the burnings were a ''national disgrace." "These men are a disgrace to ttm flag, community, family, country and to the memory of men who have gone on before them and died to preserve the life and liberty we now enjoy," Baron said. "Any man who has the opportunity to serve his country and wear the uniform of any branch of the Armed Forces should do so with pride and dig-! nity. There is no greater honor! than, serving your nation in a time of need." Baron said he believed that any individual who has not answered his country's call has not lived at all. He noted that; the same people who ignore the: request of their country are still expectant of the benefits &nd\ freedom earned by others. As an officer, Baron holds five battle stars, the Bronze Star and served throughout the European Theatre.
