Supper is now on the table; a steaming kettle of stew, biscuits, flapjacks, bacon, pork, coffee, sugar, cream, soup, milk... everything that MILLY could lay her hands on to make a feast for the men. MILLY rings the dinner bell.- The six brothers come rushing in past her, almost knocking her down, and head into the kitchen. Without a word, they throw themselves at the food. They haven't had food like this in years. MILLY turns from ringing the bell and comes back into the kitchen. She stops, stock still, staring at the brothers. r \ Z K % C2V\ Suddenly, as BENJAMIN reaches for a biscuit, MILLY brings the spoon down on his hand In a vicious blow. BENJAMIN howls, jumping to his feet, swinging around, automatically doubling his fists, ready to fight. MILLY ducks. Then she quickly recovers her dignity. BENJAMIN stares at her, bewildered. For a second the other men stop eating to look up at her, puzzled) (jp NJ BENJAMIN (Bewildered by her attack) What did I do? MILLY (Outraged) You... all of you... falling on the food that way! Haven't you the decency to wait for grace? BENJAMIN (More bewildered) Huh? 4 MILLY (This is even worse) You don't even know what I'm talking about!
