GENERAL COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN MEETING - 4 Fosters: Photographers: Policy on Releases: Key Personnel: Cooperating Groups: Transportation: Press Reps: Key Exhibit: Bill Grant reported that 20 posters of each size announcing Apr.18 and 19 as open to the public were sent out to all airlines offices. Ralph Whitener announced that each AFA Unit has been provided with posters, also. All Jack Pepper?╟╓s photographers will be used, plus two to be hired by APA. All speakers have been requested to submit material in advance. Speeches will be monitored from newsroom upstairs or location of delivery. Such material will be released through AFA. On-the-spot news can be released through Las Vegas News Bureau and local sources. Richard Skinner will be on the spot for assistance and coordination. Jack Loosbrock, Editor of Air Force Magazine, will be located in Room 11 at Convention Center, and will have final word on all publicity releases, when in doubt. In addition to an AFA desk, there will be a desk for each of the 6 cooperating organizations and a rep- resentative of these groups to assist. Each participating group has bean asked to provide a contact who will be on hand to assist newsmen with information required, introductions to their key executives and coordination when pictures are required Bus shuttle service will be available between Stardust and Convention Center, in special vehicles marked "Newsmen Only". Also, an 11-man stretch-out may be available. Three helicopters under the direction of Ken Ellington at the Race Track might possibly be utilized when necessary. 40 foreign news representatives will be here. The language problem is expected to be at a minimum; however, should need for an interpreter arise, one may be found at the information- service desk or at the stenographic pool. 200 American newsmen have already registered. A brief run-down on the most outstanding exhibit expected - the ATLAS missle - was given by Whitener.
