Every member should consider it a duty to the Club to safeguard its standard, and to employ the greatest discretion in endorsing others for membership. No applicant should be sponsored unless the member is satisfied in his own mind that the prospective applicant and his family are people who will contribute in character and personality to the life of the Club. The pri- vilege of membership must derive its value from the fact that it is not lightly extended or easily attained.
